This lesson focuses on the Aboriginal didgeridoo, its origin and use in Aboriginal culture.

 

The Aboriginal didgeridoo is the oldest known instrument, used amongst Aboriginal people to help tell stories, often during a Corroboree (where Aboriginal people would gather around and share stories of the dreamtime through dance, music and costume).

 

In this lesson, students are introduced to the sounds of the didgeridoo, information about the didgeridoo and listen to an aboriginal story-telling accompanied by the didgeridoo.

This lesson focuses on Aboriginal dot painting and the symbols used to help tell stories.

 

Aboriginal dot painting is one aspect of Aboriginal art which are used to tell stories. As the Aboriginal people did not have a written language, they used their art to help record their stories. The Aboriginal people would use Ochre for their paint which is a stone pigment mixed with emu fats and kangaroo oils to turn it into a liquid paint.

In this lesson, students are introduced to dot painting as a way to express feelings, history and Dreamtime stories of the traditional Aboriginal people.

This lesson focuses on the Aboriginal Corroboree; its Tradition and Culture.

 

A corroboree is an event where Aboriginal people gather together to share stories of the dreamtime through music, dance and costumes.

 

This lesson focuses on the Aboriginal Corroboree, where Aboriginal gather together to share stories of the dreamtime through music, dance and costumes, as well as discussing the importance of keeping the Aboriginal tradition and culture alive to pass onto later generations.
