What is Cross-Arts Curriculum?

Cross-Arts Curriculum is an inter-disciplinary learning approach to teaching the Arts within the primary school classroom.

Inter-disciplinary learning is an aspect of cross-curricular learning with the intention of combining subject disciplines (Barnes, 2011). In doing so, it helps students to deepen their understanding and response to a single learning experience and allows them to better understand the significance of content through the relationship with the real world (Robson, 2013).

As such, these lesson plans are samples of classes where the Arts have been combined with the Cross-Curriculum Priorities outlined in AusVELS (2014).
